Calvin’s Corner #55: When Blogging Becomes Sinful

I don’t think that blogging can be sinful. Sometimes churches have a vested interest in making people think that it is. I’ve been reading a watchblog about a church organization that has embezzled funds and covered up sinful acts by failing to hold the perpetrators acountable. Is it better for the watchblog to remain silent so people will continue to donate to such a church organization? Or is it better for their failure to be fully known so that people know not to support them? That church organization might try to scare people and say “slanderous gossip is being spread about our good works” but the truth is that we’ll know them by their fruit – and for their fruit to be classified, then everything they do needs to be discussed – good and bad.
